The City of Valdosta, Georgia has hired Constantine Engineering to smoke test their entire sanitary sewer system consisting of approximately 1,650,000 linear feet of gravity sewer. This 4-year process began on January 28, 2014 and will focus on specific sections of the city each year. The purpose of this project is to identify and eliminate sources of inflow and infiltration (I&I) into the City's sanitary sewer system. Constantine will follow-up the smoke testing with annual reports prioritizing defects for repair and identifying areas in need of further investigative activities.
Project deliverables include a custom-designed smoke testing data management application that integrates with the City's GIS data and provides a user-friendly interface for retrieving line segment testing information including defect photographs and maps.
