Huntsville, AL—Constantine Engineering is pleased to announce that we have been selected as a partner with Huntsville Utilities to upgrade and expand their water distribution system. Constantine has been awarded two contracts for professional engineering services for both Green Mountain and Bailey Cove.
The Green Mountain area is currently served by a single main along Green Mountain Road, two in-series pump stations, and a 500,000-gallon elevated storage tank. The overall project involves planning and designing improvements to serve Huntsville Utilities’ growing water service area on this mountain and surrounding areas. Constantine will evaluate alternatives to improve water and fire service needs of this highly elevated area. The area includes the Green Mountain Nature Trail, a 72-acre park and lake with a 1.5-mile walking trail, as well as the State’s largest and oldest Champion Winged Elm Tree. The improvements will provide water service and fire protection for the foreseeable future.
The Bailey Cove project involves the planning and design of a 30-inch potable water transmission main along Bailey Cove Road in Southeast Huntsville—from the vicinity of Ditto Marina Parkway to Mountain Gap Road. The first phase of this two-phase project involves extending a 30-inch main (which is currently under construction) from Ditto Marina Parkway to Hobbs Road. The newly designed transmission main will serve as the source of water from Huntsville Utilities’ new Southeastern Water Treatment Plant near Guntersville, AL.
