New Orleans, LA—“Join the Regeneration” was the theme for the 2018 Annual Water Environment Federation’s Technical Exhibition & Conference (WEFTEC). WEFTEC is one of the world’s largest forums for the exchange of water quality information and is considered a premium gathering of professionals who want to improve the world’s water environment. This year, the Technical Exhibition & Conference lasted five (5) days—Saturday (9/29) through Wednesday (10/3).
Once again, The Constantine Group participated in the exhibition and conference, with a significant number of staff members attending the event. Also, Constantine Senior Vice President—Joe Downey—participated in the technical program of WEFTEC by presenting a paper on “The Evaluation of Pumping Equipment for Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) and High-Strength Waste (HSW)”.
The presentation was included in the Biosolids/Co-Digestion segment of the program and covered recent work by Constantine to evaluate and select materials-handling equipment for the storage, mixing, and co-digestion of FOG and HSW for enhanced biogas production. As municipal wastewater treatment facilities search for opportunities to become energy neutral, co-digestion of outside food and beverage wastes has become very feasible to increase biogas production for combined heat and power (CHP) generation. The work by Constantine will help municipal plants improve the reliability of FOG and HSW material handling.
